c.1976 Guyatone GA-1100D Reverb Custom 100W 2×12 Valve Amplifier – Made in Japan

A seriously cool and rarely seen piece of 1970s Japanese amp history.

The Guyatone GA-1100D Reverb Custom is a large-format 100-watt 2×12 valve combo from Guyatone’s golden era of Japanese guitar and amplifier production. Built very much in the tradition of the high-powered American clean combos of the period, the GA-1100D offers huge clean headroom, lush onboard reverb and tremolo/vibrato in an unmistakably vintage package.

This example carries serial number 7604488, consistent with a circa-1976 manufacture date, and retains some fantastic period details including the turquoise REVERB CUSTOM faceplate, Guyatone grille badge, black skirted control knobs, castors and tilt-back legs.

One of the two speakers is a period Guyatone GSG305024 unit. The second speaker differs in construction and may be a later replacement, so the amplifier is not being represented as entirely original.

Voltage: The amplifier is fitted with an Australian mains plug and has been operated locally without apparent power issues. The original rear panel is marked 100V/117V. As the history of any internal voltage conversion is unknown, we recommend that the power configuration be verified by a qualified technician prior to use.

A fascinating amplifier for the collector of vintage Japanese gear, or for the player wanting something considerably less common than the usual vintage 2×12 valve combo.
