Yamaha FG-180 Green Label 1967
Yamaha FG-180 Green Label 1967
The Green label guitars were the first models actually designed and made by Yamaha at their then new facility in Japan for the domestic market only. Guitars found outside of Japan have been exported.
They had a very short production run from October 1966 and ran for around 8 months. Although Red label guitars were introduced around March 1967, there was a short period where the Green and Red labels were being made side by side.
Vintage Yammy's have a dovetail neck joint, hide glue construction and are finished in Yamaha's own nitrocellulose blend.
This particular guitar has had some work. The neck was reset by Mark at Rocket Music, Perth Western Australia, and at the same time the broken truss rod was replaced. A Camel bone nut was custom fabricated, along with a quality bone saddle. A brass plate mate was installed inside to protect the bridge plate.
In very good shape structurally this guitar features.....
• Internal date stamped October 1967.
• Action is a very good 1.75 at the 12th fret revealing a guitar in sound structural condition.
• Very straight neck with relief set at about 8 thou.
